Richard Chwedyk

Back in 2001, Richard Chwedyk’s “The Measure of All Things,” received this review in Science Fiction Chronicle: “The story should be nominated for a Hugo and a Nebula. It’s award-winning material. … This is simply the best short story I have read in the past ten years.”

Of course, “Measure” was never nominated, but Chwedyk’s follow-up, “Bronte’s Egg,” won a Nebula in the novella category. His work has also earned nominations for the Hugo, Sturgeon, and Rhysling awards.

He currently teaches science fiction writing at Columbia College Chicago and short story writing for Oakton Community College. He is a frequent guest at the Off Campus Writers Workshop, reads frequently in the Chicago area and has participated in or conducted workshops at conventions for over a quarter century.

A collection of his “saur” stories (including “Measure,” “Bronte,” and his latest, “The Man Who Put the Bomp”) is making the rounds to publishers. He lives in Chicago with his wife, poet Pamela Miller, and occasionally blogs at Critinomicon.
